When I think of a travel kit I think of a kit with personal hygiene products that someone would use when they travel. But, this E-book is all about a different type of travel kit.  Travel Kits – A Simple Way to Bless Others teaches us how to design a kit for our children to help keep them occupied and enjoying their time in the car no matter how long or short your trip is. However, I feel that with this E-Book can easily teach you how to create travel kits for anyone, regardless of their age, for any occasion.
I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love blessing others with surprises.  I enjoy taking the time to find something special and adding a personal touch to it.  Sometimes this can be a real challenge, especially when I’m buying for someone who seems to have everything and needs nothing.  So if you know of someone who is celebrating a birthday, planning a family vacation, a honeymoon, a day at the beach, maybe someone (adult or child) who spends a great deal of time in the car running from one place to the next, or for any other occasion you can think of… a travel kit not only makes the perfect gift, but is a simple, yet wonderful way to bless someone you care for.

Your travel kit can be as large or small, simple or elaborate, and expensive or inexpensive as you want.
To begin creating your travel kit you want to choose a container such as a box, hat, bag, basket, cooler - whatever you wish, and start filling it with whatever goodies you want.  Some examples would be

  • Coloring books and crayons
  • Reading books
  • Portable music player
  • Baked goodies
  • Puzzles
  • Small games
  • Gift cards
  • Your options are absolutely endless!
Next you want to individually wrap all the special surprises and arrange them nicely in the container.
Thankfully the E-Book: Travel Kits – A Simple Way to Bless Others by The Old Schoolhouse Magazine explains it far better than I have.  It’ll break it down and teach you how to…
  • Create a personalized travel kit
  • Ideas for different themed kits
  • Ideas of what to put in your kits
  • Directions for creating your own homemade travel games
  • A few YUMMY recipes
  • Links to some useful resources
  • List of tourist web links
  • And SO much more!!
Oh, and it even teaches you how to do simple origami!!

TOS Review - Travel the World!

Title: June Module 2010: Travel the World
Publisher: The Old Schoolhouse Magazine
Number of Pages: 56
Price: $7.95

Travel the World

If you’re anything like me, the task of teaching our children geography can be fairly stressful.  Chances are you remember the basics of what you were taught in school regarding geography, but not much else.  That leaves you with a few options. You could spend a fortune, small or large depending on where you make your purchase, on a geography curriculum. You could research the internet and books for endless hours until you have compiled enough information and material to teach your children all about God’s Earth.  But who wants to do either of those?! Thanks to The Old Schoolhouse Magazine (TOS) I didn’t need to and neither do you. The June 2010 Module: Travel the World is all about geography. This module is in an E-Book format that corresponds with the 2009 Schoolhouse Planner. You do not need the planner in order to fully benefit from this geography study, but the planner would definitely be a great asset to your classroom.

Travel the World has everything you need to engage and teach your children, younger and older, all about God’s Earth.

Through the use of –

· Song

· Yummy recipes

· Printable coloring pages

· Fun filled activity pages which include puzzles, word search, crossword, an acrostic, puzzles, and more (answer keys included for all)

· Multiple links to interactive games and quizzes

· Colorful picture maps

· Printable copywork pages to help your child work on handwriting and memory verses

· Numerous web links to videos and other resources

· Lapbooking activities - which include a few resources to assist you in creating other lapbooks

Your children are sure to have a great time learning as they explore such things as

· the 7 continents

· all 5 oceans

· Amazon rain forest

· Andes Mountains

· Strait of Magellan

· Malay Archipelago

· Dead Sea

· Himalayan Mountains

· India

· China

· Outback

· Great Barrier Reef

· Maps and atlases

· Tropic of Cancer, Latitude, Longitude

· And SO much more, but I’ll stop now. I think you get the idea :- )

My youngest daughter is almost 10 years old and is a kinesthetic learner. She enjoys learning and understands things easier when she can move, see, touch, build, etc, what she is learning about. So, she had a good time working on all the hands-on activities in this geography study. She especially enjoyed the new twist on the “God Has the Whole World in His Hands song.  It has made it a little easier to remember the continents.  She also had a great time playing with interactive games and exploring the other online resources - so much so she requests to play them!

My oldest is 12 years old and is a toss between an auditory and a visual learner, but she does still enjoy doing hands-on activities, too. She wasn’t a big fan of the printable worksheets, but she did enjoy the interactive games/quizzes and the other resources within Travel the World.

This module also includes a High School Expansion pack which includes additional resources and activities that are geared toward children in the higher grades.

Although I don’t have a high schooler, my oldest will begin 7th grade in the fall, she and I had a good time going through the expansion pack. The resources are great and the information and ideas really get you thinking.

I’m very pleased with this study guide.  The variety and degree of information included in the June 2010 Module: Travel the World has completely surpassed my expectation.  Thank you TOS, you have done it once again!

I feel you absolutely can NOT beat this price.  The general consensus is, “you get what you pay for.” But when you make your purchase you will see, this study guide gives you SO much more for your money. Don’t wait any longer.  Purchase your copy today and start teaching your children all about God’s wondrous earth.
