Travel the World

If you’re anything like me, the task of teaching our children geography can be fairly stressful.  Chances are you remember the basics of what you were taught in school regarding geography, but not much else.  That leaves you with a few options. You could spend a fortune, small or large depending on where you make your purchase, on a geography curriculum. You could research the internet and books for endless hours until you have compiled enough information and material to teach your children all about God’s Earth.  But who wants to do either of those?! Thanks to The Old Schoolhouse Magazine (TOS) I didn’t need to and neither do you. The June 2010 Module: Travel the World is all about geography. This module is in an E-Book format that corresponds with the 2009 Schoolhouse Planner. You do not need the planner in order to fully benefit from this geography study, but the planner would definitely be a great asset to your classroom.

Travel the World has everything you need to engage and teach your children, younger and older, all about God’s Earth.

· And SO much more, but I’ll stop now. I think you get the idea :- )

My youngest daughter is almost 10 years old and is a kinesthetic learner. She enjoys learning and understands things easier when she can move, see, touch, build, etc, what she is learning about. So, she had a good time working on all the hands-on activities in this geography study. She especially enjoyed the new twist on the “God Has the Whole World in His Hands song.  It has made it a little easier to remember the continents.  She also had a great time playing with interactive games and exploring the other online resources - so much so she requests to play them!

My oldest is 12 years old and is a toss between an auditory and a visual learner, but she does still enjoy doing hands-on activities, too. She wasn’t a big fan of the printable worksheets, but she did enjoy the interactive games/quizzes and the other resources within Travel the World.

This module also includes a High School Expansion pack which includes additional resources and activities that are geared toward children in the higher grades.

Although I don’t have a high schooler, my oldest will begin 7th grade in the fall, she and I had a good time going through the expansion pack. The resources are great and the information and ideas really get you thinking.
