What is it?
Roman Town is an educational PC game created to make studying ancient Roman history fun and engaging. It was designed with children ages 8-15 in mind; however, I feel anyone regardless of age, will enjoy playing and learning with Roman Town.

Become a professional archaeologist and discover how the Roman’s lived by going on a 3D exploration through Roman town after Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD.  During this exciting exploration you will study Roman history by uncovering many different ancient artifacts and priceless treasures, create mosaics with broken artifacts, solve puzzles, and much more.

How it work:
The introduction to the game shows the Dig It staff opening an email sent from the professor. In this email the professor tells a bit about the excavation site and asks for help in finding diggers to join to team.  You then become a ‘hired’ digger. The professor welcomes you to the team and shares some interesting history about the excavation site; Fossura, near southern Italy. He then show you how and when to use all the tools.

You are now ready to begin your first day of work. Your first task is to assign tools to your team of diggers. When a digger finds something they notify you right away. You will know when they need you, when you see a green dialog bubble appear above their heads. You must be quick to get to them, because they are very impatient and their bubble turns red quickly.  You then use your trowel to excavate the artifact. When you have completely excavated the item, a neat history lesson is given. Among the many artifacts you will uncover, will be a calculi game that you will get to play.

When all the artifacts from that particular site have been excavated, you go to the lab and sort everything by type. E.g. bones, mosaic, metal, glass, etc. You then play a few games and take the L.E.A.R.N quiz, which contains 3 activities - true or false, term match, and word search. After all this is complete you will have unlocked the report which you must complete in order to move on to the next level. Roman Town has 6 levels to complete and you must complete the previous level in order to advance to the next.  However, the fun doesn't have to stop after level 6 is completed, because every time you play the game you uncover different artifacts; allowing you to play over and over again.

Each level consists of the same series of event; assigning tools, sorting artifacts, playing games, completing L.E.A.R.N quiz activities and writing your report. However, throughout each level you will explore a different excavation site, enjoy a variety of games, and uncover many different artifacts.

Our Thoughts:My family and I really enjoyed Dig It! Games. My daughters had a great time learning and playing in Roman Town. In fact, there were often times that they would have disagreements about who was going to get to play it first.
